t man, i want to know first off, and this will be clear so read careful. can i put a resister inline of the hot wire that goes to the brush plate on a ac loco to slow the motor down. if so, what amp and omhz?

secondly, can i do the same on a ac/dc loco. for example the 80s+ lionel ac locos have a ac/dc converter board and run on a dc can motor. can i put a resistor on one of the wires going to the motor to slow the motor down?
