I am going to do an inventory of what I have and what I dont. I have always wanted an o gauge hiawatha. I will lightly clean them and put back together and look for the locomotive. The tender is a whistler. A 250w I think. I put it on the track and nothing happened. Appreciate you Ed.

I think it is a banana type whistle in there? 250W was made 35-42
The 250 E, a 4-4-2, is the locomotive, made the same years.

They also had a coach car #783
Are all 3 there?
In your last picture what is that off of?

Ed,the last picture is of the tail piece (what I am calling it) that goes on the end of the last car. I am missing 1 car. I am attaching a picture of the bottom of the tender. I feel pretty fortunate that I got all of it including track etc for $100.00.

Yes...it was one big lot of trains. I did not know the American train cars were what they were till I got them in today. I was more than tickled when I seen them.

A little metal polish looks like all they need.
Those may be worth a $100 alone, but I don't know.
The others are in fairly bad shape, needs a repaint.
Though some just might polish them too to save the patina.
I can't really see them all, the way you showed them

But the American passenger cars should polish up nice.
NO steel wool ! Or something like a Brillo pad.
You will wreck them, a little elbow grease and polish, buff them out, they should look great.
