What are you all using to pick up DCC track power via the truck wheels? I'm looking to put some lights in cars using NCE Light It. I saw the pickups that Streamlined Backshop sells, but they are out of stock and he says they won't be doing more any time soon.

Anybody rig up something that works?

It's fairly easy to install the brass 'centering springs' from
Kadee # 5 couplers as power pickup for lighted cars.
Make a few modifications and let
the brass 'fingers' rub against the flat back of your
metal car wheels.

Hmmm. Hadn't thought of that. I'll give it a try.

Thanks.

there are several different ways of doing it, some run off of the back of the wheel, [non ribbed], and others run off the axle itself [usually one side is insulated] ..
most power pickups are made of phosphor bronze round wire, or bronze flat metal pickups ..
