I just bought a new RK Z1000 transformer to power my o-gauge engine. It was running fine for a few hours, but now it suddenly runs full speed with the transformer throttle in off. As soon as I plug in the transformer the train takes off. Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Defective transformer. Perhaps the throttle knob is broken so that it isn't really engaging the rheostat?
