Have always wanted to set up a Garden Railway, and now I am retired and have the time to do it.
Question I have.
Has any work been done on having say G class loco's run from self contained lithium ion batteries, and the batteries are recharged from those rails which are electrified, and control of the loco is wireless?
Would eliminate a lot of complicated electrics.

Yes there has been advances in this technology, although I don't think they are as far as lithium polymer batters - litium ion maybe.

Depends on your environmental conditions as well.

There are kits to do this, so it is completely possible.
