would this transformer be an over kill.my layout right now,I am runing two trains and useing two transformers.I hope to make my layout bigger this spring,and will be runing three trains.

Under your name it says you model HO scale, or do you have an O scale setup too

More specific it's AC you want a DC transformer. MRC is good if you search under HO. The 1033 is a nice unit for AC trains.
