I've got a new EMD SD70ACe with a LokSound Select decoder.

Can it be replaced with this?

I assumed that Version 5 was a newer, and therefore improved, decoder.

You have two more channels of sound available, but how many are you going to be using at once?

Prime mover sound
Intermittent horn & bell
Brake squeal
Exhaust fans
Compressor
Crew announcement(s)
Curve Squeal

That leaves three unused channels unless the decoder has more sounds loaded. And that assumes you would be needing all ten channels at once. I don't think I've ever had more than four or five sounds going at once, and that would just be at departure or arrival at a station stop.
