I've got some 16 year old LGB smoke fluid that I'd like to use in new LionChief Plus steam and diesel locos. Will this be ok and what can I expect from this fluid compared to Lionel's fluid?

Well, chances are more than 50/50 it will work. But I would not. Smoke fluid is not expensive, and I would think the age, 16 years, might be a more serious reason not to use it than that it is LGB.

I think I'll go with Lee's answer here, sixteen years is pretty old, I suspect I'd just buy a fresh supply.

I believe LGB used seuthe style smoke units as well which use a thinner fluid. You’d likely have issues with overheating and such

Either Lionel's "Premium smoke fluid" or JT's Megasteam smoke fluids are good products.
