Industry Office
Cornerstone kit #4020.

Footprint, 2-1/4" x 3-5/8"

Besides other small structures like a bulldozer & forklift shed, gate-shack, crew shelter, etc, this will be the office and headquarters for my salvage yard. The facility is a rough copy of an actual parts/scrap yard near where I grew up. It served the steel mill with scrap metal, and had two spur tracks for gondola loading. It was a thriving business from 1946 to '85.
Signage will be similar to the handmade front gate sign (shown).

Airbrushed with Vallejo acrylics, then clear acrylic, then a mortar 'rub-in', and burnished with crocus cloth for definition.
Airbrush weathered, then sealed with DullCote.

Scrap metal shuttles
For the steel mill.

These Accurail gons are replicas of those that frequented the rear lot of Shapiro's Salvage yard.

Two tracks ladder'd off a spur were serviced by conveyors and front-loaders. A GE 70-ton usually shuttled them back and forth (until the early '50's, it was an 0-6-0 or a boxcab diesel).
In that area of the lot, a shredder and compactor, (baler) as well as a car crusher named "Beulah" were also quite busy.
