I was at Trains and Lanes today and over heard people talking about installing power drops at the end of sections of track. Was just wondering what they were talking about, its a term I am not familiar with.

Thanks

Just a guess here ...

I built a little HO layout recently with a pair of dead-ended turnouts. To avoid any silly mistakes of driving/crashing a loco into the dead end stops, I used some insulated (non-conducting) track pins to connect the last 2 sections of track. No power ... no unintended crashes.

"Power drop" ???

you probably mean feeders. that would be connection of power to the rail. it is common to have numer of those in several locations on your layout to minimize losses due to relativley high resistance of nickel silver rail.

in DCC that would be the wire that connects the main DCC bus to the rail
