Looks like some fancy triple pole or maybe 6 pole relays.

You could probably do some nice layout automation with those, triggering the coil off an insulated rail, but you'd need to know if it was compatible with track voltages.

I suspect these were pricey relays new...

 

Nothing to do with an O scale (or any scale) train. A computer mouse and some electrical gizmos (relays and micro switches). Probably some things that were used with the previous owner's layout. So, they were thrown in the box to add some weight.

 

The ones on the left look like 5PDT solenoid activated switches.
