how can i make it so i get all notifications from everybody who posts on my subscribed threads?
why do i only get notifications from my friends?

Go to the "User CP" tab at the top of the screen.
On the sidebar, under "Settings and Options", click on "Edit Options". Under "Subscriptions and Notifications", make sure the default subscription notification mode is one of the three e-mail options (use the drop down menu to select).

That will only effect threads going forward though. If you want to change your subscribed threads from before, you need to do so here:
