I'm looking for some 1:48 (ish) scale cars and trucks. Why is everything based in 1950s models?

Specifically, I'm looking for a modern contractor truck that I can kitbash and put on a Bachmann Streets truck chassis to make a MOW vehicle. All I can find for truck bodies is 1950s style stuff.

Any suggestions?

Because most of us were kids in the 1950s

The 50's is the most popular era to model. I WASN'T alive in the 50's, but I still model it. I want to run steam, and I think the older diesels have more character than modern ones.

In HO scale, there are hundreds of modern vehicle models. Apparently, there isn't as much in larger scales. Both Trainworld and Model Train Stuff have some O scale vehicles that might work, though.

Anything from the 50's could still be around much later but you can't put later stuff back into the 50's.

I was a kid in the 1950's. Rode a Boston and Maine locomotive from Raymond NH to Boston frequently with my Mother sitting in a coach very similar to this one. Not plush. Wooden seats as I recall.

Also my second car, a powder blue 1950 Plymouth convertible.

A great era to recreate.
