Hi. I have received a Z Gauge Marklin Train Collection from overseas. If I am interested in selling the collection in the future, is it better to have it auctioned off at n auction house that specializes in trains, consigned at a auction house for trains to sell over time or outright to store buying collections. I have completed some research and received some offers from stores. There are too many items to sell individually and they from the 1980s. They have not been used in 30+ years. Thank you for any advice.

When dealing with auctions I think the answer depends on which day it is. If the right person(s) shows up you could make a killing. If they don't, you won't.

Consignment might be better if you are willing to give up the sellers cut.

If I were doing it, I'd research at least some of the items to try to determine if there are any expensive pieces lurking in the shadows and not just sell them blindly and hope for the best.
