I was shopping online for some diesel locomotives and found some online "store" websites that could be scams.

List:

ictmainline.com
berkshirestation.com
...
To be added

The common features of these websites are:
1. Free shipping (over a certain amount)
2. Decent or attractive price
3. Created less than 3 years

BEWARE of these websites since the credit card information would be compromised. They even don't have a real transaction port.

I just found another online store that is a scam. It’s called “Roundhouseus.com”. This website pops up on a Google search when you are shopping for best price for a particular item. A virus attacks your computer and fake online stores pop up and look like legitimate stores. Go to your cell phone and see if you can get the website just typing the name and if it doesn’t appear it definitely is fake.

Probably because the virus, if it is a virus, doesn't attack the Android or Apple O/Ss. I'm not going to try it to find out though.

Does the url have httpS? Or just http?
URLVoid and ScamAdvisor both indicate "likely legit" with high trust rating. BUT the domain was registered 9-8-2022 so A; it's possible some search engines haven't added it from the database yet, and B; legit or not they haven't had much time to do much.
The GPS plunks it square in the middle of a lake lol Which is not uncommon a glitch out there in Kansas.
The registered IP is on URLVoids info. I guess if you really wanted to be supremely sure you could run that IP through some sort of check to see if it's associated with any bad behavior under prior investigation. But I don't see any cause or reason.
Just use a CC that provides fraud protection and preferably one that you are already planning to close soon. Make it the last purchase on the card and make a small $10 purchase. That way if they bilk you and don't send you anything, ignore emails, etc it's just $10. Not worth your time. And close the card account as intended to begin with; preventing any future charges.

It is ALWAYS a good rule of thumb to go to the sites "about us" page and verify they are a legit business and address and phone number check out through google maps. If in doubt, move on. I will be watching this and threads like these for future scams. It is always nice to see threads like this, looking out for our fellow hobbyists! Thanks for making this thread!

Is that restaurant still in business though? It could've been turned into a server farm or anything else. Call them & make a reservation for a party of one. Lol
Weird that the GPS location from URLVoid puts it in Kansas. But I'm not sure if that's where biz is registered, or where the hosting server is?
Another odd thing though, there are two other websites registered to the IP (server IP?), one is a "blahblah".es whatever .es is. And I think the other one was .rw
Kinda weird. Seems..... questionable.

.es is Espana (Spain) .rw is Rwanda, so not legit.

Aha, Rwanda. That website probably belongs to that long list cousin of mine. The Prince who will give me his entire kingdom if I loan him $10 in gift cards. Lol

Speaking of addresses; GRJ makes a good point, and reminded me that my neighbor has a small business. Out of curiosity I checked the website and they used some sort of template web design thing, but didn't take the time to rewrite everything. So his template website says they've been in business 30 years serving the San Fransisco area. Lol Those template web design services are pretty common. I'm not saying it IS that, but could be.
Don't know.
And frankly not too concerned as I'm not inclined to do business with them.
